Meandering through the depths of the Gwopesh Jungle before emptying into the Parlanic Sea, the slow and broad Gwopesh River feeds the surrounding jungles through dozens of poorly mapped (or completely undiscovered) tributaries. Though the river's better-known lower section is flat and broad, in the jungle's interior it flows around a series of low rocky cliffs and bluffs, and several rapids and small waterfalls have been discovered along its length.

The river originates where the Yaquda River (which flows along the edges of the Gas Scrub) and the Dharm River conjoin. This site, known by the natives as "Ryzawhu", features a series of springs and pools that are venerated by surrounding tribes and often used for ritual sacrifice by drowning. The bodies of those sacrificed rarely last long, as the river's upper reaches teem with crimson Kwuifi, a variety of schooling, carnivorous fish similar to piranhas. Though confined primarily to the river's isolated source pools by cataracts (and encouraged to stay by the regular sacrifices provided by the natives), smaller schools and younger fish occasionally swim farther downstream, feeding on other fish, crocodiles, water birds, and even larger animals and humans that fall afoul of them while swimming across the river.
